Hello Jo, how are you doing?
- I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I think this usually happens whenever I'm about to release new music. But I'm sure after a few drinks I'll feel better.
So what's going on?
- Aside loosing my mind(laughs hysterically), I keep working on new music, Like no matter how tired, stressed, sad, happy or drained I am, I just have to make music.
Now straight to your music. Your new single 'Eden' is out at the time of publishing this article.
What lead to the single Eden?
-Honestly man, when I make music I think I'm almost unconscious, it feels like a higher being takes over my body, maybe its God, maybe its the universe, I don't know but I just let it flow. I barely remember the process, but I do know a lot of my songs if not all start from conversations with my friends. We'll be talking about life b.s* or love b.s* or updating each other on what's going on in our lives and I always leave the call with a feeling or phase, I load up my recording software, scribbled words in my notes app, the spirit takes over and boom! Magic.
What does it mean to you putting out the single 'Eden' ?
- (laughs hysterically).
One thing I love about my music is how different people relate to it. I love when people have different interpretations of my work. When they make memories and decide to share those memories with loved ones, like the other day two of my supporters went on a date and they used the Spotify blend feature and the one song they both had in common with each other was a song I made. That was so cool to me.
Let's talk music genre.
Why this genre? And what inspired you on this record?
- Everyone that knows me well enough can tell that my favourite Drake album is Honestly, Never mind. That album really did a lot for me. I would go as far as saying that's my comfort album, also Gordo and the other great creatives that worked on that album.
How did you come across this genre and where are you going with it?
- You know that feeling you get as a child, the one that makes you convince your family and friends that you'll become batman and you build yourself a cave and even learn every single form of martial arts you can, yeah...
I've had that feeling since I was a child and I kind of use house music to manifest and display my taste in music.
The luxurious genres and sub genres of music people don't pay attention to, not everyone gets it and that's okay because people will question you for buying a Rolex and then proceed to say "it's just a watch". I do see myself playing at clubs and parties in places like Ibiza or St.barts. I also see it as a gateway to accessing the spaces and collaborating with the best of the best in that space.
Speaking of collaborations, who will you like to work with currently?
- This is an interesting question and I hope they see this.
I'd like to work with REMIXIA, I don't need to explain why just do your research on them. Then also this amazing artist I found the other day YNTRA, her new project is amazing by thr way. Then JOHN GLACIER as well.
Finally what's next?
- I think we'll figure it out as we progress. I'm curious and excited to see what this is all about. An album or EP? , something is on the way that's all I can say.
Thank you for the conversation.
