​​Rivers Hoopers Aim for Glory in 2025 Basketball Africa League Playoffs​​

Rivers Hoopers, Nigeria's premier basketball team, are set to make a significant impact in the 2025 Basketball Africa League (BAL) playoffs. After securing their sixth Nigeria Premier Basketball League (NPBL) title with an unbeaten 12-0 record, the Port Harcourt-based team is determined to surpass their previous achievements on the continental stage .​​


In the 2024 BAL season,


the Hoopers made history by finishing third, the highest placement ever for a Nigerian team in the tournament. Building on this success, they have been drawn into the Kalahari Conference for the 2025 season, alongside FUS Rabat (Morocco), Al Ittihad (Egypt), and Stade Malien (Mali) . The conference games are scheduled to take place from April 5 to 13 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, Morocco .​​



To bolster their roster, the Hoopers have re-signed key players, including guard Kelvin Amayo and center Peter Olisemeka. Additionally, they have acquired American forward Raphiael Putney, known for his shot-blocking prowess and international experience .​​




Head coach Ogoh Odaudu has expressed confidence in his team's potential, aiming not just for a repeat of last year's performance but to clinch the championship title. He emphasized the importance of building on their previous success to achieve greater heights in the 2025 BAL season .​​
